When GEI purchased Hotel PUR Quebec in 2015, it had an exceptional reputation, but was fast-approaching faded glory territory. It was clear that the Quebec City market had tremendous potential, but GEI dug deeper: Anticipating the resurgence of the Saint Roch neighbourhood specifically, GEI recognized that Hotel PUR – reimagined – could achieve a high degree of success within this up-and-coming area.
GEI concepted, created, redesigned, renovated and rebranded Hotel PUR Quebec after it was signed to the Tribute Portfolio family of independent boutique hotels in 2016. Through its affiliate Crescent Hotels & Resorts, GEI put into place new management and negotiated a new collective bargaining agreement. GEI’s improvements to design, food and beverage and operations positioned Hotel PUR as a leader in the market. In 2019, GEI sold Hotel PUR, more than quadrupling its initial investment in four years.
Hotel PUR Quebec is a 242-room hotel in the heart of Quebec City’s Saint Roch district, a neighbourhood that exemplifies Quebec’s eclectic, independent spirit. It is within walking distance of the Old City and close to modern and historic attractions like Artillery Park, Observatoire de la Capitale, Quebec City Convention Centre and the Videotron Centre.
Providing upscale amenities and exceptional service, the hotel’s modern, minimalist design and urban sophistication is also strongly influenced by its Quebec roots. The rooms feature floor-to-ceiling windows that overlook the city and the hotel offers 12,000 sq. feet of meeting space, a business centre and event catering.
